Babar Azam struck a sublime hundred on the fourth day of the opening Test against Australia as he set up a breathtaking display of sumptuous drives all around the park. The elegant right-hander batted supremely in his healthy contribution of 104 runs off 173 balls and has drawn praise from all corners of the cricket fraternity.
Legendary cricketer Ricky Ponting is mightily pleased with Babar’s regal knock and was awestruck by the premier batsman’s balance and poise at the crease. Ponting particularly praised Babar’s temperament in the second innings and analyzed how the 25-year-old had left good-length balls outside off-stump depicting a clarity in his mindset to bat long.
"Babar Azam certainly delivered, everyone saw how good a player he is, how classy he is. His defence was tidy, he played the ball a lot later, waited for the bowlers to come to him. We saw how strong he is off both front & back foot. He's a classy player,” Ponting said.
