Babar Azam has once again become the center of attention after amassing a graceful hundred in the first Test against Australia at the Gabba. Babar batted beautifully during his 173-ball stay at the crease, frequently conjuring delectable drives.
Despite his outstanding century, the 25-year-old’s batting position in the lineup has come under scrutiny as he batted at No. 5 on both occasions in the Test match. Taking note of his relatively lower batting slot, famous Australia cricket pundit Ian Chappell has lashed out at the Pakistan team management for sending Babar too late.
Chappell advised the Green Shirts’ think-tank to promote Babar up the order if they are to utilize his talent to the maximum.
"I think he's a very good player. But Pakistan have got to make much better use of him by getting him further up the order. Four is the minimum. He should have batted at four in the match and I'd like to see him put in at three, but certainly no lower than four,” Chappell complained.
