Indian cricket has traditionally been thought to be heavily dependent on spin but the rise of their speedsters in recent years has completely debunked this trend. India’s formidable pace attack ran riot over the timid Bangladeshi batters in the Test series and before that, wreaked havoc against the travelling South Africans.
Impressed with their devastating performances, West Indies coach Phil Simmons offered words of immense praise for the Men in Blue. He spoke from his past experience of facing innocuous Indian medium-pacers in his playing days to now seeing the likes of Jasprit Bumrah terrorizing batting lineups all over the world.
"I can't say how long ago, but when I first came here, you would have Madan Lal opening the bowling. Now you have guys bowling at 90 miles per hour opening and your premier fast bowler [Jasprit Bumrah] was injured for this Test, so you still have him to come back. It's exciting for world cricket," he said.
