Australia were subject to a batting masterclass from Babar Azam on the fourth day of the first Test in Brisbane. Babar smoked dazzling strokes in his magnificent contribution of 104 – his first century in Australia – but his stellar efforts could not help avoid an innings defeat for Pakistan.
Babar’s impressive performance has garnered admiration from veteran Australian spinner Nathan Lyon, who believes the 25-year-old has the potential to dominate all conditions and every bowling attack in the world. Babar’s ceaseless rise in world cricket has already seen him enjoy a fierce battle with Dale Steyn where he emerged on top, and Lyon predicted the elegant right-hander could go on to become one of the best batsmen ever.
"Babar is one guy who can conquer all conditions around the world. He's got brilliant temperament. His hundred was an innings of class, we know he's world-class and he's going to be one of the best batters in world cricket for a long time to come,” he said.
