Ever since the retirement of Abdul Razzaq, Pakistan has been in search of reliable pace bowling all-rounders. Trying various options like Anwar Ali, Bilawal Bhatti and Fahim Ashraf, the green team is yet to get the results it desired.
However, the emergence of Amad Butt cannot be ignored while having this discussion. Recently, the 24-year old cricketer featured in the Emerging Teams Asia Cup, where he impressed many with his prowess and former Pakistan batsman Ijaz Ahmed, who was the coach of the boys in green in that tournament, isn’t sitting as an exception.
The 51-year old is of the opinion that Amad offers great quality with both leather and willow to any team. Moreover, he highlighted that the Sialkot born player is a bullet in the field, which makes him an ideal package to end Pakistan’s arduous search for a sturdy all-rounder. For this reason, Ijaz wants to see Amad getting roped in the national team as soon as possible. It remains to be seen how Pakistan’s selection committee responds to Ijaz’s advice.
