Renowned Pakistan speedster Shoaib Akhtar has revealed that former pacer Mohammad Zahid was much quicker than him during his playing days. Akhtar admitted he felt like a medium-fast bowler in comparison to Zahid’s thunderbolts.
“The bowler who was a yard and a half quicker than me was Mohammad Zahid. Once we were bowling together in a charity game for flood relief and I can tell you, compared to Zahid I felt like a medium-fast bowler,” he said.
Akhtar went on to have a glittering international career but Zahid gradually was pushed into oblivion and could manage to represent Pakistan in only five Tests and 11 ODIs.
“An endless supply of fast bowlers was our forte but we weren’t utilized effectively. We picked a scenario where we turned timid,” Akhtar added as he lamented the Pakistan Cricket Board’s inefficiency with regards to managing their pace talent.
