Fawad Alam, the middle-order batsman of Pakistan, is one of the most astonishing stories of the cricketing world. Despite being a sturdy and consistent performer of the domestic circuit, the veteran player has failed to impress the Pakistani selectors, who don’t find the batsman good enough to play at the International level.
However, his sublime batting outings in the domestic circuit helped the voices in favor of him to gain momentum. This club was recently joined by the former Pakistan skipper Wasim Akram who believes that the middle-order batsman should play the home series against Sri Lanka.
Sharing his insights in the commentary box during the Adelaide Test, the 53-year old said that Fawad’s flabbergasting consistency needs to be rewarded.
“Fawad has been scoring heavily from many seasons. There’s no reason why he should sit out of the national team. Like him or not, but Misbah-ul-Haq, as a chief selector, needs to have Fawad playing the home Tests against Sri Lanka,” the Lahore born said while calling for the inclusion of Fawad Alam in the national team.
