Cricket South Africa (CSA) has been trying hard for the past several months to engage legendary skipper Graeme Smith at the helm of the cricket affairs. The Proteas batting great has now cleared the air of confusion built by faulty media reports regarding his appointment as director of cricket by CSA.
Smith took to Twitter to deny such development and reiterated he was still indulged in ongoing discussions with the CSA in relation to taking up the new post.
He was earlier linked to being interviewed by the CSA for the same position but publicly pulled out of the race for director of cricket owing to differing interests.
Smith was eager to take up the responsibility of the crisis-struck CSA and set out a new vision for the game but decided to withdraw given the lack of freedom afforded to him by the administration. However, his return signals a positive change and if the discussions materialize, it could lead to a better future for South Africa cricket.
