Starc makes himself unavailable for IPL

Australia’s ace speedster Mitchell Starc has opted out of the lucrative Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 player auction list. This marks the second year in a row that Starc has made himself unavailable for the IPL as he had earlier decided to focus on regaining his fitness ahead of the ICC World Cup.

The left-arm paceman later finished the 50-over showpiece event as the tournament’s leading wicket-taker and has continued to torment batsmen with his thunderbolts in other formats as well.

In the 2018 IPL auction, Starc bagged a deal with Kolkata Knight Riders but was sidelined from the league due to injury.

The 29-year-old last played in the IPL for the Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2015. He has played a total of 27 IPL matches and has taken 34 wickets at an average of a shade over 20 and an impressive economy rate of 7.16.
