Australia emphatically defeated Pakistan in the second Test of the two-match series to complete a thumping whitewash. Pakistan’s opening batsman Imam-ul-Haq accumulated just two runs across the two innings in the second game and also caught himself in another controversy when he was spotted laughing alongside Australia head coach Justin Langer in the post-match presentation ceremony.
Imam’s picture with Langer was widely shared on the internet as social media users lashed out at the left-hander for failing to understand the gravity of the situation.
Amidst the public backlash, former Australia speedster Jason Gillespie came out in Imam’s defense and said it was fantastic to see the two individuals interact with each other.
Gillespie focused on the importance of learning from the greats of the game and building a good rapport with them. He thus interpreted Imam’s actions as reflective of this jovial mindset and claimed it was heartening to see the youngster in conversation with Langer.
