After hosting India’s first-ever day-night Test match, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Sourav Ganguly has hinted at an exhibition match next year between Asia XI and World XI at the Sardar Patel Stadium in Ahmedabad.
The star-studded game, if goes ahead as planned, will mark the inauguration of the Sardar Patel Stadium, which is deemed as the largest cricket stadium in the world with an enormous capacity of 1.10 lakh. It will surpass Australia’s Melbourne Cricket Ground that accommodates 100,024 people.
“The game between Asia XI and World XI will be subjected to ICC’s approval,” Ganguly said following the BCCI’s annual general body meeting. The world of cricket has previously seen two editions of the Afro-Asia Cup.
