For the upcoming edition of the highly celebrated Big Bash League (BBL), Melbourne Renegades have ameliorated their strength by signing the Pakistani duo of Usman Shinwari and Faheem Ashraf. The left-arm pacer is coming back to the red team after recording a strong campaign last year, which saw him claiming 8 wickets in 7 games, at an economy of just 6.14.
However, this would be the first stint of all-rounder Faheem Ashraf. After topping the bowling chart in the 2018 edition of the Pakistan Super League, the utility player was the second-highest wicket-taker in the last season of the 20-over tournament.
Faheem will be available for the first 8 games of the tournament, while Usman will feature in the first 5 contests. After that, the former will be replaced by Afghan all-rounder Mohammad Nabi and latter’s shoes are set to be filled by English pacer Harry Gurney.
The high-quality BBL will present both the players a great chance to hone their skills ahead of the next year’s T20 World Cup, which is to be played in Australia.
