Jeetan Patel joins England’s coaching staff

After serving England in the T20I series against New Zealand, which they won 3-2, former Kiwi cricketer, Jeetan Patel is set to extend his services to England’s Test unit. This is so because he has been hired by England as their spin bowling consultant for the upcoming tours of South Africa and Sri Lanka.

The 39-year old, who is currently playing in New Zealand’s Super Smash T20 competition, will be joining England ahead of the first Test against the rainbow nation, starting from December 26.

Apart from being a veteran of 24 Tests, 43 ODIs and 11 T20Is, Patel also carries a plethora of county experience while playing for Warwickshire.

The domestic stalwart was elated to hear the news as he is confident to deliver for England. Reacting to all this, the Wellington born said that the opportunity to take up a role with England is one that doesn’t come around often, so he cannot simply turn it down. It remains to be seen how England’s spin department fares under him.
