It is hard to overemphasize the importance of the highly celebrated Pakistan Super League (PSL) which helped Pakistan cricket improve in a number of ways. One of the key areas have been the promotion of youngsters, for which PSL authorities fixed a segment called ‘Emerging Round’ in every squad, where teams pick 2 blossoming young talents.
Throughout the 4-year short history of Pakistan’s most loved T20 competition, we have witnessed many young cricketers making their mark at a big stage and PCB Managing Director Wasim Khan recently endorsed the nation.
The 48-year old, to make his point, particularly highlighted the case of left-arm spinner Umer Khan who bowled brilliantly for Karachi Kings in PSL 2019.
Wasim is confident to see the 20-over event serving as a bridge to many budding cricketers as he also promised to improve the quality of domestic cricket. The drafts for the fifth season of the PSL also saw all the 6 franchises acquiring a total of 12 young cricketers. It remains to be seen who catches the attraction in the month-long tournament, scheduled to commence in February 2020.
