West Indies’ boisterous batting sensation Nicholas Pooran was slapped with a four-game ban for deliberately tampering with the condition of the ball during the third ODI against Afghanistan. He was thus forced to sit out of the T20I series against Afghanistan and the opening T20I encounter against India.
Returning to the side for the second game and his team 1-0 down in the three-match series, Pooran slammed a riveting cameo that downed the strong Indian team. The left-hander was involved in a rapid 61-run stand with opening batsman Lendl Simmons as they completed an eight-wicket win for the tourists.
Pooran came in to bat when a solid platform was laid down by a breezy partnership between Shimron Hetmyer and Simmons and continued to punish the Indian bowlers. He struck two sixes and four boundaries in his stunning 18-ball 38, which ultimately guided his team over the finishing line with nine balls to spare.
