The English all-rounder Moeen Ali is still uncertain about his return to the longest format of the game. The left-handed batsman took break from the Test cricket after his poor run in the 1st Test match against Australia in the Ashes 2019. Since then, Moeen has not been seen in the white kit.
England’s chief selector, Ed Smith also confirmed that there is still no chance that Ali will feature in the Test series against Sri Lanka. He said that there is no time frame that will affirm his comeback.
"He asked to take a break from Test cricket at the back end of last summer and that is what has happened," Smith said. "At this stage we don't know when he will return to being available for Test cricket but it's our hope that he does. We all know that Moeen is a talented and valued cricketer for England. But we don't know if and when that might happen.", he concluded.
Moeen’s form in the Test arena was a concern in 2019. His average with the bat in hand was just 10. However, Moeen has been an integral part of England’s team and his all-around skills will be key for the team in the coming future.
