Ali Tareen extols 'Pindi boy' Rohail Nazir

Multan Sultans boast a lively squad for the upcoming edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) as they vie to overturn their fortunes. Having ended second-last in the six-team table since they were introduced into the league, Sultans opted for a fresh approach during the PSL draft. For their Emerging Category pick, the franchise went for arguably the hottest property in town – wicketkeeper-batsman Rohail Nazir.

The teenage batting sensation was recently named captain of Pakistan’s squad for the U-19 World Cup taking place next year. Rohail, born in Islamabad and earlier selected by Islamabad United in PSL 2018, was hailed by Sultans co-owner Ali Tareen as a highly talented player to look forward to. Tareen nicknamed the youngster as Sultans’ very own ‘Pindi boy’ given where he lives.

Rohail is touted as one of the superstars under construction in the Pakistan domestic circuit. He has so far played nine first-class games and 11 List A matches, where he averages an outstanding 47.10. Rohail was Pakistan’s top performer during their victorious Emerging Teams Asia Cup campaign. He slammed a fantastic century in the all-important final of the tournament against Bangladesh, earning the man of the match prize.
