Pakistan is witnessing a momentous occasion in its cricketing history as Test cricket returns to its shores for the first time since the horrific terrorist attack on the Sri Lankan team bus in 2009. To mark the significant event, legendary batsman Javed Miandad was invited by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) as the chief guest.
Ahead of the start of the historic match, Pakistan bowling coach Waqar Younis claimed it was a “pleasant surprise” to meet Miandad and was immensely pleased to interact with him. Waqar and Miandad were seen in a tight embrace showing the mutual respect between the two cricketers for each other.
Both players have etched in their names in the cricket echelons among the greats of the game. Post-retirement, the two cricketers have taken up separate coaching stints with Pakistan’s national side.
