Former South African Captain, Graeme Smith has finally agreed to take the post of CSA director of cricket. However, his stint won’t last more than 3 months courtesy his future commitments of doing the commentary job during the Indian Premier League edition 2020.
Smith’s tenure as the acting director of cricket of CSA will cover the tour of England cricket team and the limited-overs games against Australia which concludes on March 07.
Cricket South Africa was forced to undergo significant changes in the aftermath of their miserable campaign during the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019.
Speaking of his new role, Smith said: "I've publicly stated a number of times that I would love to assist CSA in this difficult time, particularly in developing this new role of director of cricket.
I'm still as passionate about South African cricket as I ever was, and I'm looking forward to getting stuck into the role. There is a lot of work to be done in the next few weeks and months and my objective will always be to make a positive impact during my tenure."
