Even today, Pakistani all-rounder Shahid Afridi remains to be one of the most sought after products of T20 cricket. Afridi’s spin prowess coupled with his belligerent batting and athletic fielding makes him an ideal candidate to make it to any T20 unit. However, like all of his career, he still remains an inconsistent player.
This was evident in his side Dhaka Platoon’s opening game against Rajshahi Royals in the highly admired Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).
With his side reeling at 80-5, Dhaka was in need of a strong innings by the iconic all-rounder. However, it never happened as the 39-year old looked in a hurry yet again.
Chasing a wide ball outside the off stump, Afridi edged the very first ball he faced from English all-rounder Ravi Bopara to give wicket-keeper batsman Liton Das an easy catch.
While fans expected a lot from the Khyber Agency born player, things didn’t fare smoothly for him. Nevertheless, Dhaka will hope to see Afridi turning the tables and coming good in the remaining fixtures of the 20-over event.
