New Zealand faced a huge setback on the opening day of the Perth Test match against Australia as their debutant fast bowler Lockie Ferguson went off the field courtesy a calf-strain.
The right-handed fast bowler just bowled 11 overs before he went off the field and then did not bowl any more overs. The right-arm pacer from Auckland, who was selected in the XI of this match ahead of Matt Henry, produced figures of 0-47 after 11 overs which also included a maiden over.
New Zealand cricket on Twitter confirmed Ferguson’s injury, however; no official decision has been taken yet whether the fast bowler can continue to bowl in the Test match or not. Ferguson’s unavailability will further halt New Zealand’s progress after an emphatic century from Marnus Labuschagne.
