Yasir Shah has been released from Pakistan’s Test squad in order to work with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB)'s spin consultant Mushtaq Ahmed. Yasir will be under the tutelage of Mushtaq for the next few days at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore.
Yasir, who broke the record for the fastest player to 200 Test wickets last year, could not get a place in the playing XI for the first Test against Sri Lanka in Rawalpindi.
He will soon re-join the squad for the second Test of the series set to take place in Karachi. The ace leg-spinner has struggled for form in recent times as he was taken to the cleaners during the two-Test matches in Australia.
Meanwhile, Mushtaq was appointed Pakistan’s spin bowling consultant by the country’s cricket board last week with his contract meaning he will work 120 days in a year at the National Cricket Academy with the Under-16, Under-19, and other domestic bowlers.
