Faheem Ashraf and Usman Shinwari have been rendered unavailable for the upcoming edition of the Big Bash League (BBL), a week after signing with Melbourne Renegades. Shinwari was expected to return to the Renegades squad while Faheem was set to make his BBL debut this season.
Shinwari will be busy with national duty and will not be able to turn out for Renegades whereas Faheem has reportedly been held back by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) in a bid to make him focus on domestic cricket. The Melbourne-based franchise has thus roped in uncapped English quick Richard Gleeson for the tournament.
"It's obviously unfortunate to lose Shinwari and Ashraf on the eve of the season but sometimes that's the nature of T20 cricket in a busy international schedule. We know things can change quickly with international players,” Renegades coach Michael Klinger said in a statement.
