India’s spectacular opening batsman Rohit Sharma has been appointed as the brand ambassador of La Liga, which is Spain’s top division football league. This comes in response to an ever-swelling craze of football in India where it is cricket which actually enjoys the status of the national sport.
The boss of La Liga Jose Cachaza feels the immense potential for football in India as the last two years saw many promotional activities that included a free broadcast partnership with Facebook for the Indian audience. Moreover, La Liga Football Schools are also emerging to promote the brand and sport in India.
Reacting to all this and sharing his happiness on his Twitter handle, the 32-year old said that it is an honor for him to be associated with La Liga as football is no more a ‘sleeping giant’ in the country. Rohit, an ardent fan of Real Madrid, also added that he sees this as an interesting journey where he is eager to connect with all the football fans of the country.
