After piling heaps of runs in the domestic circuit, Pakistan’s opening batsman Abid Ali finally made it to the national team of Pakistan. However, he had to wait for the failures of others to get pushed into the playing XI and he announced himself in no uncertain terms.
Just like his ODI debut, the 32-year old batsman recorded a sublime innings to score a century on his Test debut. This made him the only batsman in the history of the game to score centuries on both Test and ODI debuts and this fact was celebrated a lot by the former Pakistan captain Rashid Latif.
Sharing his feelings on his official Twitter handle, the Karachi born used an iconic piece of poetry to applaud Abid Ali.
Using the two-liner, Rashid indicated that Pakistan’s selection committee made a blunder by keeping Abid Ali away from the playing XI, which was clear in his debut Test innings as it spoke volume of the talent and class he carries. It remains to be seen how Abid fares in the Karachi Test.
