Babar Azam’s prolific run in Test cricket this year has finally landed him a spot in the top 10 Test batsmen in the world. The elegant right-handed batsman recently struck a fantastic ton against Sri Lanka in Rawalpindi, allowing him to experience an improvement of four positions in the rankings to reach No. 9.
Having already proved his white-ball prowess, the 25-year-old has also upped his game in Test cricket and has been performing consistently in the longer format lately. Babar was Pakistan’s leading run-getter across the two Tests in Australia where he racked up a century and just fell short of registering another three-figure score.
Babar’s rapid ascendancy in the rankings also affords him the unique record of being the only player besides Indian skipper Virat Kohli to be present among the top 10 batters across all three formats. His stellar heroics in Tests show he has stamped his authority in the grueling five-day format as well.
