Veteran batsman Henry Davids set up a belligerent display of power-hitting to propel Paarl Rocks to victory in the final of the second edition of the Mzansi Super League (MSL). Paarl dominated the proceedings from start to finish as Tshwane Spartans failed to halt the opposition’s rampant charge.
Following a clinical all-round bowling performance consigning Tshwane to just 147/6 in their 20 overs, Paarl launched into a rollicking start courtesy of fireworks from Davids’ bat. The 39-year-old slammed four towering sixes and eight sizzling boundaries in his unbeaten contribution of 77 off 44 deliveries.
Davids’ explosive batting heroics helped his team scale down the target in just 14.2 overs as Paarl were crowned MSL champions for the first time. Davids was duly bestowed with the man of the match prize given his emphatic knock.
