Former Pakistan coach Mickey Arthur, throughout his tenure, was criticized for not picking Kamran Akmal and Umar Akmal despite both of them recording strong shows in the domestic circuit. While both of them are full of fantastic capabilities, but it is no secret that they crumbled under pressure on many occasions, leaving Pakistan in lurch.
Highlighting this fact, Mickey, who is currently serving as the Sri Lankan coach, revealed that he had no disliking when it comes to Akmal brothers. He added that he always demanded players who could win games for the boys in green and didn’t think Akmal brothers were good enough for the job. Moreover, he urged the Pakistan’s management to invest in and groom young talent for future.
It is also important to note that both Umar Akmal and Kamran Akmal, after sparkling performances in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), were finally drafted into the national team under the watch of Mickey against Australia and West Indies respectively. However, like many other instances, the explosive cricketers ended up disappointing many people including the coaching staff.
