Ace paceman Pat Cummins has commanded a record Indian Premier League (IPL) fee for an overseas player during the star-studded auction for the 13th edition of the tournament. Cummins, who is the top-ranked Test bowler, bagged a whopping INR 15.50 crore from Kolkata Knight Riders, breaking the record for the costliest foreign recruit in IPL history.
The signing amount is one crore more than what Ben Stokes received when he went to Rising Pune Supergiant in IPL 2017. While there is little doubt over the ability of Cummins to wreak havoc on opposing batsmen, he has not fared too well in the IPL.
Cummins has represented KKR in the past, managing to don their jersey in four games. Overall, Cummins’ statistics in the IPL read an ordinary 17 wickets from 16 games at an economy rate over eight games. In T20Is, his economy rate drops down to a brilliant 6.78.
