India vs West Indies 2019

Twitter elated as India thumps Windies with a 2-1 series win

The third and final ODI between India and West Indies was played at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack. It is an important game given that the series was tied 1-1 and India was coming into this game on the back of a big win in Vizag.

West Indies batted first and put on an amazing 315/5 in 50 overs. Shai Hope (42), Nicholas Pooran (89) and Kieron Pollard (74*) were the main scorers for Windies. Pooran and Pollard put on a record 135-run partnership for the fifth wicket and for India, Saini (2/58) on debut was the best bowler, while Shami, Jadeja, and Thakur picked a wicket each as well.

However, both fell quickly in succession and Windies then removed the middle order for single-digit scores. Iyer (7), Pant (7) and Jadhav (9) all went back to pavilion leaving their captain Kohli to do the hard work.

He found Jadeja an able ally, who made 39* and though Kohli got out for 85; Shardul Thakur slammed 17* in just 6 balls with 2 fours and 1 six, as India won the match by 4 wickets, making 316/6.

This was the highest successful chase on this ground, eclipsing India's own 273 against England in 2008.

Twitterati reacted to the India’s win over the Windies and congratulated the team. The former Indian cricketers and the fans were super excited over the performance of Kohli and his men.
