Haris Rauf’s dream start to the Big Bash League (BBL) has just received another boost as he claimed five wickets in just his second game in the tournament to guide Melbourne Stars to an emphatic 52-run win over Hobart Hurricanes.
The 26-year-old was roped into the Melbourne franchise as a replacement for the legendary Dale Steyn but has instead cemented his place in the side with two fantastic outings in the middle. He has already grabbed seven wickets at an average of 6.7 and an economy rate of less than six runs per over across the two matches.
Marcus Stoinis’ stellar batting efforts had earlier led Melbourne Stars to an imposing total of 163-4 in their 20 overs. Later, Rauf hogged the spotlight as he scythed through the Melbourne batting lineup.
Months after storming into the headlines for his impressive performances for Lahore Qalandars in the Pakistan Super League, Rauf has mesmerized everyone with his fast bowling prowess in the BBL. His ability to consistently rack up high speeds proved to be troublesome for the opposing batters to safely negotiate.
