For those of you who watched the fast-bowler Haris Rauf bowl in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2019, the paceman making the headlines of the cricketing world shouldn’t be a surprise. Right from the word go, Haris looked the real deal as he tested strong batters of the premier domestic T20 competition of Pakistan – a show which helped him fetch a Big Bash League (BBL) contract.
Many doubted his abilities for such a high profile event, but Haris is making everyone regret. Replacing the injured Dale Steyn in Melbourne Stars team, the 26-year old scaled new heights of success as he picked 7 wickets in his first 2 games, including a career-best 5/27 against Hobart Hurricanes.
Reviewing his journey and a magical bowling performance, Haris extended his gratitude to Lahore Qalandars for trusting his abilities when he had nothing. He added that it was his dream to play the Big Bash League (BBL) and he got it quite soon. The icing on the cake was him getting picked in a team where we have the presence of South Africa’s great Dale Steyn – a cricketer Haris idolized all his life. He made it all known in the presentation ceremony.
Just like his bowling, the confidence was oozing in his words even when Haris struggled to speak English. All this has made the whole of Australia fall in love with him as everyone is backing the speedster to continue his sparkling journey in Australia’s highly admired T20 tournament.
