Years of hard work of Abid Ali was finally rewarded with him getting included in the national team. However, the journey wasn’t straight forward as the opening batsman had to wait for the failures of others to get his chance. After the ordinary batting outings by other openers, the right-hander was finally handed a Test debut against Sri Lanka in Rawalpindi.
Abid grabbed the opportunity with both hands to score 321 runs in his first 2 Test matches. In Rawalpindi, Abid became the first male cricketer to muster centuries on both ODI and Test debuts. Carrying his sparkling form, the 32-year old recorded a grand show in Karachi where he scored 174 crucial runs in the second innings of the game, rescuing Pakistan from a tough situation.
Reviewing his debut and how things fared in his short International career, the dexterous batsman shared satisfaction. He said that seeing the reward after years of hard work made him proud. Abid shared that he remains positive which works for him. Moreover, he is confident to continue his strong shows for Pakistan.
