Without a shadow of doubt, Indian opening batsman Rohit Sharma has been a part of all the cricketing action of the country. Importantly, 2019 was a sensational year for the vice-captain of limited-overs cricket for the men in blue as he recorded sparkling shows both in the domestic and International circuit.
However, it is likely to see the belligerent batsman taking some rest in the start of 2020. Rohit Sharma is expected to skip the forthcoming three-game T20I series against Sri Lanka, the matches of which are scheduled to be played on January 5, 7 and 10 in Guwahati, Indore and Pune.
As per the sources, a Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) official confirmed that the cricket board wants to rest their key batsman to manage his workload. In the absence of the 32-year old batsman, Shikhar Dhawan, who recently recovered from a knee injury, will join Lokesh Rahul to form a strong opening partnership for the men in blue.
