Former Pakistan skipper Shoaib Malik took a subtle dig at the Indian cricket team in his ‘Merry Christmas’ post on Twitter. As is the tradition of renowned sportspersons extending greetings to their fans on the auspicious occasion of Christmas, Malik also joined the trend though his tweet contained a rather interesting photograph.
Malik recollected a T20I victory over India on Christmas Day back in 2012. The picture shows the veteran all-rounder passionately celebrating the win while a dejected MS Dhoni bows his head in the backdrop. The image has been interpreted by many to be a sly jab at India.
The right-handed batsman had played a pivotal role in Pakistan’s memorable win over India in that fateful match. Malik had scored 57 not out from 50 deliveries and hit the winning runs achieved via a six. Pakistan have not played a bilateral series with India since those limited-overs games.
