Senior Afghanistan paceman Dawlat Zadran has been one of the vital cogs of his team since their entry into international cricket and subsequent success. Dawlat’s skiddy pace and smooth bowling action has been likened to Pakistan legend Waqar Younis and he continues to be an important part of the Afghanistan side.
Although the ‘Blue Tigers’ failed to live up to the expectation of fans during the ICC World Cup 2019, there were moments of individual brilliance that caught everyone’s attention. Afghanistan did come close to achieving wins over their Asian rivals Pakistan, India and Sri Lanka but eventually endured a winless campaign.
Despite the grim memories of the showpiece event, Dawlat focused on the few bright spots in their lackluster tournament outing. He highlighted his individual performance having picked eight wickets across five games including the prized scalps of Chris Gayle and Babar Azam.
