Angelo Mathews returns to Sri Lanka’s T20I side as the team is all set to tour India for 3 match T20I series. Mathews will make his comeback in the side after 16-month gap. Mathews played his last T20 International against South Africa in August 2018, when he led Sri Lanka to a three-wicket win.
Sri Lanka Cricket said in a statement that the 16-member squad will be led by veteran pacer Lasith Malinga. Initially, fast bowler Nuwan Pradeep was included in the squad but he will now make way for seamer Kasun Rajitha after sustaining an injury during practice sessions.
Mathews has played 72 T20I matches for Sri Lanka in which he has scored 1055 runs. India and Sri Lanka will face each other in the opening game at Guwahati on 5th January 2020.
