England’s all-rounder Ben Stokes rejoiced a magnificent year (2019) which brought two of the best possible knocks of his career including the one against New Zealand in the final of ICC Cricket World Cup and the one against Australia in the 3rd Ashes Test.
But Stokes is ready to give up all for his father. His dad, Gerard Stokes, faced serious illness last year which makes it difficult for the cricketer to label the year 2019 as good or bad. The fans were unaware of Stokes’ feelings amidst his robust performances on the field.

Stokes’ father went to watch the 1st Test match against South Africa but he was taken to the hospital courtesy illness. The 64-year-old is currently doing well and that allowed his son to play the first Test which England lost by 107 runs. "At the end of the most memorable of years I am finding it quite hard, to sum up, 2019 right now," Stokes mentioned.
He added, "There have been some unbelievable highs, and some real lows, but to see out the year with my dad in hospital has put things into perspective. If someone could say 'I'll take everything away from you that happened this summer, but your dad is happy, healthy and watching you play cricket' then I'd say yeah, swap it."
