With the upcoming edition of the ICC Cricket Under-19 World Cup not being far away, teams are gearing up to steal the thunder of the mega-event. Like all the other units, Pakistan is also assessing their resources to be in best shape of winning the tournament scheduled in South Africa.
Ijaz Ahmed, the head coach of the Under-19 team, is closely observing the progress and skills of all the players. Of all these cricketers, all-rounder Mohammad Shahzad has grabbed his attention a lot. Ijaz believes that Pakistan has unearthed a sensational talent in the form of Shahzad and the youngster will become the talk of the town in a year or so.
Shahzad, who worked with Ijaz Ahmed since the Under-16 level, is an opening batsman and also bowls medium pace. Considering the dearth of pace bowling all-rounders in the country, the praise of Ijaz for Shahzad has blew a fresh air in this regard.
The 51-year old further added that what makes Shahzad a strong player is his ability to learn fast. Ijaz has high hopes from Shahzad and it remains to be seen how he fares in the 50-over event, scheduled to be played from January 17 to February 20.
