Haris Rauf, the paceman of Pakistan, is one of the most exciting cricketing stories of the country. Getting discovered from the highly admired Player Development Program (PDP) of Lahore Qalandars, the exuberant paceman has refused to look back by recording a number of sturdy bowling outings.
It was particularly the 2019 edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) where Haris showed his true colors by becoming the joint-highest wicket-taker for Lahore along with the Nepalese spin wizard Sandeep Lamichhane. Dismissing 11 batters, Haris averaged a shade under 25 while managing a bowling economy of 7.41.
This helped him to fetch a Big Bash League (BBL) contract where he is flying high by decimating batters regularly. After recording another top performance in Australia’s domestic T20 competition against Sydney Thunder, where he picked 3 wickets for 24 runs, Haris moved the former Australian cricketer Mark Waugh to applaud his prowess.
The 54-year old cricketer, while commentating on Melbourne’s contest against Sydney, compared Haris Rauf with Jasprit Bumrah. He said that the sturdy pace, short run-up and ability to bowl consistent yorkers makes him locate shades of Bumrah in Haris Rauf. This comes as a massive compliment to Haris as Bumrah is counted among the finest fast bowlers of the modern day cricket.
