The third day of the second Test between Australia and New Zealand in Sydney saw a hilarious incident ensue on the field when renowned umpire Aleem Dar decided to take a sprint across the pitch. The unusual occurrence provided a great source of entertainment to the large crowd gathered at the SCG.
It all happened right on the second delivery of the second session as veteran Australian spinner Nathan Lyon was getting ready to bowl to New Zealand batsman Glenn Phillips. Just when Lyon was coming into his bowling stride, Dar opted to change his square-leg position to march to the off-side.
The late reaction from Dar was taken in accordance with the leg-side heavy field set by Australia. The Pakistani umpire sprinted across to the point region with full zeal narrowly evading the stumps as the sea of supporters cheered him on.
