The Super Smash T20 match between Canterbury Kings and Northern Knights saw a stunning record as Leo Carter smashed six sixes in an over during his side’s chase. The Canterbury player executed his power-hitting skills to perfection by setting up a destructive batting display in Christchurch.
The 25-year-old left-hander punished part-time spinner Anton Devcich by going for the magical 36-run mark at the Hagley Oval. His monstrous onslaught spanned a total of 29 balls as he racked up 70 runs and helped his team storm to a seven-wicket win with seven balls to spare while chasing the steep 220-run target.
Carter became the seventh batsman in cricketing history, in the domestic level or above, to hit six maximums in an over. The previous batsmen to achieve this feat include Gary Sobers, Ravi Shastri, Herschelle Gibbs, Yuvraj Singh, Ross Whiteley and Hazratullah Zazai.
