With the next edition of the T20 World Cup nearing, all the teams are gearing up to steal the thunder of the mega-event. Same is true with Sri Lanka as the unit is eyeing a strong performance in the cricket carnival in Australia.
Captain of the team and their key paceman, Lasith Malinga recently revealed his target for the 20-over competition as he wants to see Sri Lanka playing in the knock-out stage. He also admitted that he would not mind hanging his boots after achieving this target. The Islanders have been a top performing unit of the history of the event as they reached the final of this competition thrice and winning it once, back in 2014 against India.
“I’ve already retired from Tests and ODIs. My only target is to play knock-out round in the T20 World Cup. If Sri Lanka qualify for the knock-outs, I would not mind retiring any time after that,” said by a veteran of 30 Tests, 226 ODIs and 80 T20Is as he targets quitting International cricket in style.
