India’s opening batsman Rohit Sharma has blasted opposing voices, especially those who criticized his family during the World Cup 2019 in England and Wales. A controversy had erupted regarding the Indian team in the showpiece event as reports indicated that the families of senior players had been allowed extended stay.
This piece of information then spewed rhetoric targeting the seriousness of the players as India eventually faced a semi-final exit in the tournament. Shedding light on this debate, Sharma sent out a strong message, asking the critics to refrain from dragging his family into issues surrounding cricket.
“Our families are there to support us, make us feel happy. When all these things were being written about, few of my friends came and told me and believe me or not, I was just laughing. But then it went on and on and they dragged my family and that was not on. You talk about me but don’t drag my family as they genuinely don’t care about anything else,” he stated.
