Joining the highly celebrated Pakistan Super League in 2018, Multan Sultans started the 6-team tournament with a bang. They defeated a sturdy side like Peshawar Zalmi in their debut game and looked on a mission. However, their performance started deteriorating soon after as they remained glued to the bottom half of the table in both of the editions they played.
However, the fifth season of the 20-over competition in 2020, provides them a new chance and the newly recruited bowling coach Azhar Mahmood is hopeful to see his side doing well. Recently, Azhar shared that Multan has started their participations at the Tareen Academy where he saw players like Khushdil Shah, Zeeshan Ashraf, Mohammad Ilyas and Ali Shafiq recording their prowess.
The 44-year old believes that Multan has a great pool of local talent which can aid them to register strong outings in PSL 2020. Moreover, he was in awe of the hospitality of the franchise as he believes that the co-owner Ali Tareen holds immense passion for the game. It remains to be seen how Multan fares in PSL 5.
