Somerset have re-signed Babar Azam for the upcoming edition of the Vitality T20 Blast. The star batsman will be available for two County Championship fixtures in addition to the 12 matches for Somerset in England’s domestic T20 competition.
Having represented the county side last year as well, Babar’s return to Somerset is subjected to a No Objection Certificate (NOC) by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). The elegant right-handed batsman was the leading run-getter in this previous edition of the T20 Blast as he accumulated a grand sum of 578 runs at a stupendous average, including a stellar century.
“I really enjoyed my time at Somerset and I look forward to coming back. Somerset has a very good squad and the supporters made me feel very welcome. Hopefully, I can help the club reach the knock-out stages of the Vitality Blast and contribute to winning matches in the County Championship,” - Babar Azam.
The 25-year-old is ranked among the best batsmen in world cricket currently and his formidable partnership with Tom Banton at the top of the order for Somerset promises a lot for the fans.
