The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has strongly reacted to insinuations in cricketing circles claiming that Naseem Shah was withdrawn from the U19 World Cup squad due to doubts over his actual age. Clarifying the rumours, the PCB has emphasized that Naseem was left out of the squad for the marquee tournament on the request of the senior team management.
"Naseem had been withdrawn from the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup on the request of the Pakistan men’s senior team management purely on cricketing reasons," PCB’s statement read.
PCB has also expressed its disappointment with the reports circulating in the media aimed at maligning its reputation. They believed this was insulting for the quick bowler and the selectors.
"In this background, the PCB is disappointed that an attempt has been made to tarnish the credibility and reputation of an emerging fast-bowler with a bright future ahead,” - PCB.
