Making his name via the Player Development Program (PDP) of Lahore Qalandars, fast-bowler Haris Rauf has refused to look back. He took his sparkling bowling form of Abu Dhabi T20 League to Pakistan Super League (PSL) and then to the Big Bash League (BBL) where he is running through the batting line-ups.
Getting signed up as a replacement of injured Dale Steyn for Melbourne Stars, Haris grabbed the opportunity with both hands. The 26-year old used his bowling artillery to great effect in playing a strong role in helping Melbourne win important contests to get in strong position in the competition.
As if a number of strong displays, including a five-wicket haul against Hobart wasn’t enough, Haris has now become the only Pakistani pace to register a hat-trick in the history of Australia’s most desired T20 competition. The game against Sydney Thunder saw him bossing again as he ended up with figures of 3-24 to take his tally to 13 wickets in 4 games, which allowed Melbourne to beat Sydney by 6 wickets.
After conceding 22 runs in his first 3 overs, Haris was trusted to ball the last over and he didn’t disappoint. The white-ball specialist claimed 3 wickets to win the player of the match award. With this performance, it was only natural to see him setting Twitter on fire as fans wildly celebrated the iconic bowling outing of their star. Moreover, fans thanked the Lahore Qalandars franchise for unearthing this sensational bowling talent and demanded to include him in the national team for the forthcoming edition of the T20 World Cup, scheduled in Australia this year.
