Harif Rauf ran riot over the Sydney Thunder batting with an incredible hat-trick in the Big Bash League (BBL) contest at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). The 26-year-old’s venomous pace and clever variations proved to be too much for the opposing batsmen as he dismissed three batsmen in succession to become the first Pakistani to achieve this feat in the BBL.
He raised his tournament tally to 13 wickets in four games, bolstering his chances of earning a maiden call-up to the national side. When asked about his thoughts on the tremendous achievement, Rauf admitted it was his dream to play at the MCG and he was very proud of carving out a name for himself in the record books.
"Maxwell had told me to build pressure by bowling dot deliveries and eventually the wickets came. It was my dream to play at the MCG and the dream has come true Alhamdulillah. I am so excited,” – Haris Rauf.
