Mohammad Amir wreaked havoc in a stupendous exhibition of seam bowling during the first qualifier clash between Khulna Tigers and Rajshahi Royals in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). Having never taken a five-wicket haul previously in his T20 career, Amir went one step further and became the first bowler in BPL history to dismiss six batsmen in an innings.
Amir’s destruction with the ball started in the very first over of the Royals’ chase when he bowled Liton Das with a wonderful in-swinging delivery to knock off his middle stump. The last of Amir’s six wickets was the prized scalp of Shoaib Malik just when the latter was threatening to take the game away from Khulna.
Amir’s stunning bowling heroics reinforce his esteemed reputation as being a quality bowler in the limited-overs formats. His dazzling efforts have afforded Khulna their first shot at claiming the BPL title.
“I wasn't trying too much, but just trying to hit the right areas. It always feels good. They give you confidence and you take momentum to the next game. It is good for me and the team. We have reached the final. I will try to keep this momentum in the final,” he said after his match-winning performance.
